INTERNATIONAL WELLNESS NETWORK, INC.'S SPIRITUAL COMMUNITY'S ULTIMATE MISSION
IS TO RAISE UP SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZERS IN
THE 21ST CENTURY WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO REDUCE "POVERTY
WITHIN LIMITED INCOME COMMUNITIES
IWN's Social Entrepreneurs Network and Community Organizing Training Model is designed to support the empowerment of a community whose families are experiencing disparities due to unemployment, health issues, threat of youth becoming part of gangs, early pregnancy and incarceration for both young men and women. IWN have taken a pledge to not focus on the "disparities" that are within communities of color/limited income families, we know its there. Our mission is to stay focused on what these same individuals can do for themselves with a little bit of help from their friends".
Our mission is to work from the old "African/Native American model of community" - the circular" approach which allows everyone the opportunity to give individuals a "hand up", rather than "hand outs". The "hand out" approach serves its purpose, however, it is documented in many researches done on communities, when people have the opportunity to "do for themselves", people have more sense of pride for themselves, their neighborhoods, family and community become more supportive of one another and thrives.
It is also known that when cities are basically supported by "social programs", with no feeling of hope of ever coming up from this "mentality of poverty", they continue to sink more and more into despair, which creates higher substance abuses, family violence, broken homes, more and more single parent homes, living in many cases - below the poverty line, increased gang activities, and desolate communities, which becomes a burden on everyone. Many times we turn away from these communities believing it is not our problem if we live in the suburbs of cities where the urban centers are in disarray or not in the country where poverty is. However, the tax dollars that are going toward social programming for these neighborhoods end up becoming more of a "tax burden" which affects everyone. It is not a "win/win" situation at all, everyone suffers to a degree. The "mentality of "if it is not broken, don't fix it", must have a new paradigm shift to - let's repair the cracks, before the levy breaks", such as the "Katrina travesty" or the bridge failure in Minnesota. We as a community no longer can see one portion of our enlarged community is safe, leaving other parts weak and vulnerable. We at International Wellness Network, Inc. believes that we must take a holistic approach to community development by looking at all of the community in creating a healthy society where all children can thrive.

Our Listening Circles are designed not only to draw everyone into the community, but also to serve as a "bully proof" mechanism that will empower participants to celebrate their ONENESS as well as EMBRACE THE DIVERSITY OF CULTURES AND LIFESTYLES OF OTHERS creating a community of"WE-NESS" rather than a community of "THE OTHER" which fuels division and misunderstandings, stunting the growth of a community.
Arts and Music Appreciation program provides youth and their families with the opportunity to enlarge their awareness in a "global perspective that will assist them to using both sides of their brains". A diversity of art forms will be chosen by participants to learn from, i.e., music, painting, drawing, etc.
